- Loved EVERYTHING, and I mean it!! The entire conference was valuable to me!
- Having experienced they Psychology Teachers Assoc. meeting for Indiana, I was excited to see a new program for U.S. History teachers modeled after it. Amanda did a phenomenal job organizing, managing, & leading this academic collaboration of Indiana U.S. History teachers. Amanda and IHS created an enjoyable environment for peer coaching, sharing, and fellowship for U.S. History teachers – teachers teaching teachers J These types of programs promote using applicable resources & materials for teachers! (Dawn Crone, Brownsburg Community High School)
- It was nice to interact with other professionals who are passionate about educating youth about our country’s vibrant history. I was able to take home many ideas for better teaching my students (David Heden, Huntington North H.S.)
- Not a minute wasted! This conference provided amazing resources, contacts, and strategies to help me build a dynamic U.S. History classroom (Fishers High School)
- Get the word out to more teachers somehow. I am happy that I happened to stumble upon it on the IHS website.
- I really liked hearing from classroom teachers about their ideas and lessons. It was nice to see how they teach a certain subject and to get new ideas to use in the classroom.
- I thought it was great! The Indiana U.S. History Teachers Association seminar is by far one of the best informational, tool gathering opportunities I have ever had as an educator. Amanda Vanderbur and the Indiana Historical Society did an outstanding job or organizing relevant speakers and materials to utilize in my everyday teaching. The IN Historical Society is a great venue to hold this meeting. It is a beautiful facility. I will certainly attend again.
- I loved the presentations. Thank you for doing this! Great location! Easy parking!
- Finally a local, intimate, professional development opportunity that is course-oriented. I learned a lot of fresh, engaging, interactive classroom activities as well as extracurricular opportunities. There were raffles and freebies too. What a great motivator to start the school year – it was fast, friendly, free (almost) – fantastic! (Gale Carter, East Chicago Central High School)
- This conference allowed me to receive excellent activities, from both .the middle school and high school level, from colleagues from throughout the state of Indiana. I will take these ideas back to my school and input them into my classroom. Thank you. (Maranda J. Anderson, Greenfield-Central High School)
- The great speakers at the conference were very engaging and gave a lot to take back to our classrooms. Also, the teacher share out was awesome. I love hearing what other teachers are doing to engage their students. I would love to have more time during the day for this portion. Imagine if every teacher present shared a lesson. We would gain a lot of valuable resources. It’s one thing to see a lesson plan in a book or online, but to hear a teacher explain it in person is much better. (Jessica Considine-Koch, Decatur M.S)
- The Indiana U.S. History Teachers Association Meeting was a refreshing and valuable professional development opportunity that fed our desire to collaborate with other teachers & share ideas & resources that can be immediately implemented in the classroom to engage students. I also enjoyed the chance to reflect on why I became passionate about teaching U.S. History (Cari Hair, Decatur Middle School)
- Received a plethora of usable materials for teaching U.S. I am so glad I attended & will bring my colleagues with me next time. Keep it standards based. (Diana J. Nichols, OUHS – Spencer)
